Compression Simulations Results

Time step: in an explicit simulation, the results are calculated in small time increments called time steps.

Shape info: Gives and overview of the part’s interior volume, surface area, relative density, and min and max von Mises Stresses.

Von Mises Stress: is a value used to determine f a specific material will yield or fracture.

Displacement: is the amount of change in the position of the part when subjected to external force. The displacement in x, y and z direction can be visualized as a color map. The magnitude of the displacement vector can also be visualized.

Cauchy Stress: defines the state of stress at a point inside a material in the deformed state. Cauchy stress matrix size is 3x3, it is symmetric. Therefore the 6 components of the matrix and the magnitude can be visualized.
